This creates problems for both researchers and consumers.<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"501\" data-end=\"706\">\n<li data-start=\"501\" data-end=\"621\"><strong data-start=\"503\" data-end=\"518\">Researchers<\/strong> rely on accurate data to select parameters for studies and ensure efficient use of research funding.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"622\" data-end=\"706\"><strong data-start=\"624\" data-end=\"637\">Consumers<\/strong> need precise specifications to make informed purchasing decisions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 data-start=\"237\" data-end=\"499\">A high Irradiance Requirement<\/h2>\n<p>In a published review study of over 2133 brain photobiomodulation studies, from which 97 studies were included, the average <a href=\"https:\/\/jneuroengrehab.biomedcentral.com\/articles\/10.1186\/s12984-024-01351-8#:~:text=Power%20density%20was%20usually%20used%20at%20around%20250%C2%A0mW\/cm2%2C%20especially%20in%20physiological%20conditions.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">irradiance or power density was usually used at around 250\u00a0mW\/cm<sup>2<\/sup><\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"708\" data-end=\"1028\">Independent Testing for Accuracy<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"708\" data-end=\"1028\">To address these concerns, the PBM Foundation has partnered with Optronics Lab and Megalab Group Inc., specialists in spectroscopic measurement services. These partnerships focus on establishing consistent LED testing protocols, rigorous methodologies, and transparent reporting.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1030\" data-end=\"1336\">Why Accurate Measurement Matters<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1030\" data-end=\"1336\">Photobiomodulation research is device-specific due to key variables like wavelength, irradiance, and device form factor. Accurate parameter reporting is crucial to replicate therapeutic effects and understand treatment conditions \u2014 much like pharmaceutical testing.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1338\" data-end=\"1499\">Case Studies on Specification Transparency<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1338\" data-end=\"1499\">As part of their testing program to standardize irradiance reporting, the <a href=\"https:\/\/pbmfoundation.org\/pbm-device-testing-portal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PBM Foundation<\/a> benchmarked the <strong>Vielight Neuro 3<\/strong> against two PBM helmets \u2014 the <strong>Suyzeko NIR helmet<\/strong> and the <strong>Neuronic Neuradiant<\/strong> \u2014 in collaboration with two photonics engineering firms. Both <strong data-start=\"352\" data-end=\"363\">MegaLab<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"368\" data-end=\"384\">Optronic Lab<\/strong> conducted independent tests, yielding highly consistent and replicable results.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1338\" data-end=\"1499\">Independent tests conducted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarlight.com\/product-category\/product-application\/led-spectral-analysis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Optronics Laboratories<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/megalabinc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MegaLab<\/a> highlight the need for precise measurements:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1500\" data-end=\"1793\">\n<li data-start=\"1500\" data-end=\"1738\"><strong data-start=\"1502\" data-end=\"1528\">Optronics Laboratories<\/strong> tested the Vielight Neuro Duo, Neuronic Neuradiant 1070, and Suyzeko NIR Helmet using a calibrated OL 770VIS\/NIR spectroradiometer.
